Game of Thrones Season 3 Liveblog! Episode 10: Mhysa!

You've made it back for another week of Game of Thrones. Quite frankly, we're a little bit surprised. Last week's episode was all kinds of disgusting, terrible, and sad. You're pretty silly returning for more.

And yet, here you are, so let's watch some Game of Thrones.

Maybe your favourite character is still alive, and you feel a vested interest in the show. Good for you!

someone on the internet made this.

so, what other depravity to these sick fucks have in store for us this week?

What's up with those Lanniser folks?
How's that Khaleesi lady and her puppies, men?
Is Davos still reading?
Is Stannis still needlessly murdering leeches?
WTF is a Mhysa?

Hit the jump, and let's find out together!

Game of Thrones Season 3 Liveblog! Episode 9: The Rains of Castamere.

hey there!

welcome back!

we hope you had a good long weekend, whatever your reason may be, matriarchs or veterans, we don't care.

it's set to be a rather festive week in Westeros with quite a few vows being tossed around these days.

You better watch out, because it seems as though some things may be happening soon.

seriously, the fuckin' crows know.

hit the jump folks, and we'll talk over what might be happening.

Game of Thrones Season 3 Liveblog! Episode 8: Second Sons.

hey, everyone!  and welcome back, uh, us!
we had many intentions of being here with you all last week, but alas, we fell prey to the inevitable throes of toronto maple leafs fandom.

the terrifying lows, the soaring highs, the creamy middles!

but let us speak no more of that, lest our sportive hearts break yet again.  and frankly, after last night's doctor who series seven finale, we don't know how much more we can take.

thankfully, river song has appeared to remind us not to shed any spoilers until after the jump.

wikipedia's got a nice primer on the previous episode, but for those of you who'd prefer not to click away, here are a few points we enjoyed (or didn't?):
-Sansa Stark's heart-rending innocence: "Did your mother teach you that?"  oh, bless!  she really believes Margaery is a virgin.  that scene was pretty excellent, and made us love Margaery even more than we already did.
-that scene between Joffrey and Tywin was shot and directed beautifully.  very powerful to see these characters interact: neither wishes to concede any power, yet both must defer (to some varying degree) to the other.
-Melisandre and Gendry are in Blackwater Bay?  that's...different.  Seems like she won't be heading directly back to Dragonstone.  And she told him about his lineage!  What is she planning?
-Orell is boring and typical, and Ygritte dispatches him accordingly.  However, the windmill scene was adorable - love to see this character with her defenses dropped, no matter how fleeting!
-Robb Stark and Talisa's butts - simultaneously.  ALL the BUTTS.  Game of Butts.
-Arya was captured by the Hound!  More interactions between them immediately!  Please?
-I don't really want to talk about Theon's sexual assault and subsequent castration.  Wait, whoops.
-Daenerys is becoming a more impressive leader by the minute, it seems.  And the dragons look dooooope.
-The rescue of Brienne by Jaime was by far one of the best parts of this episode - but to be honest, we were pretty uncomfortable with the fact that they used a real bear.  This is a show that destroyed whole ecosystems in Malta; I wouldn't imagine that humane treatment of animals is a high priority.

but enough of that!  what's going to happen tonight?

-the episode's title implies it could be heavy on the Tyrion and Bran (plus Rickon, i guess) storylines.  are we missing anyone?
-how will this first of many weddings to come play out?
-will today's nudity be gratuitous - and if so, will it be somewhat even-handed?
-will we be beset by yet more torture scenes, likely starring Alfie Allen and his torturer (whom we've mistakenly named many times, not realizing it was meant to be a secret)?
-what's next for Daenerys and her mission to free the slaves of Essos?  perhaps...a distraction?
-and what about spoiler?  Spoiler spoiler spoiler!

let's hit the jump and see if we can't learn the answer to some of these questions together.

Six Seasons and (...pretty much) a Movie - Community Season 4 Finale Liveblog!

Hey there!
Thanks for stopping by!

seriously. thanks.

Today we're going to be sitting down for a humorous (and potentially somber affair.)

Welcome to our second Community Season Finale liveblog.

We're hoping this isn't a series finale, but many signs are point to the opposite, so pull up a chair and join us for one more study session around the magical table.

maybe not?

How did the writers cope with writing what is (another) potential final episode?
What sort of storylines can we expect to be tied up?
Are we going to see any of the various relationships teased actually come to fruition? (for one episode?)
What ever happened with that air conditioning school anyway?
Evil Abed, is that dude going to show up?

Nobody really knows, yet...y'know, unless there are spoilers and you've read them.

For the rest of you non-knowing folks, hit the jump and we'll find it all out together.

Game of Thrones Season 3 Liveblog! Episode 6: The Climb

Hey again!

Summer's just around the corner here, but in the lands of Westoros, winter is far nearer!
What's this week's episode, "The Climb" going to have in store for us?

i uhh, i know sometimes we put in song references having to do with the episode titles, etcetera...
But as far as i can make out, it's a pretty popular Miley Cyrus song. We're not showing you that.

But hey - it's a book apparently! About climbing Mount Everest, so, uhhh, there's that!

shhh. don't worry about it. just pretend it's the wall or something

Anyway, what's going on this week?

How's are the Lannister siblings (most notably Tyrion and Cersei) going to cope with their new directions and roles in King's Landing?
What will happen with Daenerys and her Unsullied? (Go Team Grey Worm!)
Will any one of Littlefinger, The Hound, Tywin, or Stannis do something creepy and untoward?
Will Jon Snow have his guts pulled out through his nose?
How will Arya cope with the loss of Gendry, and her m'lady-zoning?

potentially violently?

Hit the jump, and let's talk about it!

will we ever get a snark-off between olenna tyrell and tywin lannister?  i would like this very much!
will jon snow's tests beyond the wall prove fatal?
will dany set some dudes on fire?
will melisandre?
will the show set a new record for consecutive episodes not featuring gratuitous nudity?

well, we don't bloody know, but if you hit the jump with us, we'll find out together!

Game of Thrones Season 3 Liveblog! Episode 4: And Now His Watch is Ended.

wowzers!  last week's episode of game of thrones (walk of punishment) sure was a doozy.  let's give those fine actors a hand - i think i saw a spare one around here some place.

whoops, sorry jaime!  too soon?

hey, wait a second - exactly what kind of threat do you pose anymore?
seems like someone's about to have an identity crisis!

how spoiler-iffic is the title of today's episode?  (we've sworn an oath not to tell!)
will dany (and her unsullied) be in this episode?
just what does jon snow know, anyway? (spoiler alert: nothing!)
and hey, did everyone see ser davos on doctor who last weekend?  what's up with that guy?

grab your drinks (we'll post a run-down of ours shortly), and hit the jump with us for further shenanigans!  who knows - we may even answer some of the questions posed above.

Game of Thrones Season 3 Liveblog! Episode 3: Walk of Punishment.

by the grace of the seven, you guys!!
it's almost time for game of thrones again!

...yeah, so we weren't here last week.  i'm sure we had our reasons, just as i'm sure you're waaay more interested in getting on with this week's episode!

i'm sure i'm sorry!

will arya be recaptured?
what will become of the hound?
will shae experience any more plot contrivances sudden mood swings where sansa and tyrion are concerned?
will spoiler spoiler spoiler?!?!

hit the jump with us, in the hopes we will find out together!

Game of Thrones Season 3 Liveblog! Episode One: Valar Dohaeris

Game of Thrones is back!

...oh. Who put Jon Snow in charge of the music?

that was a bad idea.

holy crap!

What's going to happen at the Wall?
Or in King's Landing?
Will we finally meet the Reeds?
How will Brienne and Jaime get along?
I bet there'll be some battles too!

Hit the cut with us, and we'll talk it over.

The Walking Dead Season 3 Liveblog! Episode 16: "Welcome to the Tombs" (Season Finale!)

We made it through 16 episodes of guts and gore (and I don't mean the writing) to arrive at the climax of the third season of The Walking Dead.

One would get the impression there's going to be a showdown or something, right?
Today's episode is called "Welcome to the Tombs" - that seems like a pretty bad ass place for a battle, no?

pink floyd is always cool.

There's plenty in the air, and plenty (or so they want you to believe) at stake in tonight's episode.

Will Andrea make it out of Woodbury alive?
Will Team Prison remain Team Prison, or instead Team On-The-Road-Again ?
How will Michonne react to the group sort of ousting her?
How will Daryl react to the death of Merle?
Does Rick have his stuff together enough to keep this gang together?

Is this episode going to provide more closure than questions?

Hit the jump with us, and we'll talk a bit about how we got here.

it's hard to keep stuff like this straight.

The Walking Dead Season 3 Live Blog! Episode 15: This Sorrowful Life.

Welcome back, folks!  Grab yourself a drink (we're having some mulberry magic tea, James Ready beer, and Muskoka Twice as Mad Tom IPA, but feel free to make your own choices) and settle in for the latest episode:  This Sorrowful Life.

seems like a harvester of sorrow would be pretty useful for these people.

Who's going to die tonight?
How will the writers drag out one more episode before the final battle (or worse, a cliffhanger leading up to no climax whatsoever)?
Will Merle's redemption arc finally be executed (heh)?
Will we be able to sit through whatever happens to Andrea in the Governor's torture room?
And will this be the episode to make us say "yeah...Game of Thrones is back next week.  fuck this

rick's into giving out roles these days.

hit the jump, in the hopes that we will find the answers to these, and many other questions!

The Walking Dead Season 3 Liveblog! Episode 14: "Prey"

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone!
(don't forget today is Billy Corgan's birthday!)

everybody loves some billy corgan, right?

We hope this means that you're already a few beers deep, and very much enjoying the spirit of the season, and that's why you're all green. It's food dye, right? Certainly not mold and gangrene  eh? No walkers around these parts, right?

oh, charlie day.

so after a string of something approaching decent episodes, last week was a bit of a clunker. sorta slow. sorta boring. lots of talking and whiskey, not so much... umm, excitement. they did come to one agreement, however.

rick is a real fuckin' leader. not like that governing guy.

so, where's this all leave us?

is merle still being a pain in the ass at the jail?
are glenn and maggie all sorted out i guess?
what happened to morgan? or tyrese for that matter?
are these two grown-ass white dudes really going to fight over michonne's ownership for the rest of the season? or are they actually fighting over andrea?
what in the bloody blue hell is andrea actually doing? like, seriously?
oh, and how much longer until rick, y'know, gets luke skywalker'd?
can't some people just die and this storyline be over?

i can't sit here and tell you you'll get the answers you're looking for over this here cut, but i'm sure as hell going to help you try to figure it all out.

The Walking Dead Season 3 Liveblog! Episode 13: Arrow on the Doorpost

Whoa, boy!

Wasn't last week's episode great?
Are you ready for what will likely be none of the same?

We know we are.

How're the cast and crew of The Walking Dead going to follow up on one of the better episodes in a few seasons? Who knows? We're ready to find out though.

Will tonight's episode feature just a single group again, or are we back to the ensemble cast?
How's Merle working out at the jail? How are preparations going?
How's the Governor's depth perception doing? He sure can still shoot. Is he planning to shoot again soon?
Daryl - we missed him for an entire episode. What's he been up to?

everyone loves some melissa etheridge, even after z-day.

We don't know, and you don't know, but if you hit the jump and we watch "Arrow on the Doorpost" (wtf does that mean?) then we're just to get at least a few answers.

The Walking Dead Season 3 Liveblog! Episode Twelve: Clear !

hey hey!

are you ready for another week of walkers and talkers and dudes with one eye? we know we are.

with the season trucking along, there's plenty of unrest going on there in Georgia. Last we saw everyone, Rick's group had jettisoned Andrea and Tyrese's entire group, but kept Merle. What's the deal with that? Who friggin' knows.

turn it up, and rock some Kardy. he's a 416 guy like us.

So word on the street is that Rick feels overpowered by the Governor's weapons, and is going to try to arm themselves up. How's that going to play out?

-Will Andrea try to kill the Governor some other night after screwing him again?
-Will the writers make Andrea do any more stupid crap?
-Will we finally get some development for Michonne?
-Are there really any extra weapons out there?
-Are there any other supplies out there?

man, you don't even know what's tuna anymore!

bounce jump with us to find out all the answers ye seek.

The Walking Dead Season 3 Liveblog! Episode 11: I ain't a Judas

Hey there!

We're certain that you, just like us, have been sitting on the edge of your seat since the end of last week's episode! It was a real nail biter, no? I mean, seriously... Who is it that's telling somebody else (in very poor grammar) that they're not a judas? Who, really, who? I mean, it could be Daryl, but we know that Reedus is a Judas, right?

i mean, unless the writers are willing to ignore such obvious things.

so we guess it could be Merle, right?
He's not going to betray anyone, right?
And he can't really do no talking not so good, huh?

Meh, just 'cause, here's Daryl again, before Z-Day.

life's easier now, huntin' squirrels.

Anywho, it seems like we're on the verge of a whole lot of messiness going down in these next few episodes, and it's a safe bet it starts picking up here, no? There are only five episodes left after all.

Lots of questions to be answered (as per usual) in Georgia tonight.

Will Rick and the Prison Gang retaliate to the Governor's attack?
How will Andrea cope with the knowledge that her friends are alive, and were attacked?
Is Merle going to be able to adapt to life in prison? (heh, see what I did there?)

this guy clearly never saw any of the Evil Dead films OR Planet Terror
- excellent examples of coping with your new body during the zombpacalypse...
...or wait. maybe he's just confused, 'cause he has all those bad-ass stabby attachments

And seriously! Just who in the world isn't a judas, anyway?

We NEED to know.

The Walking Dead Season 3 LiveBlog! Episode 10: Home!

You're back!
You survived, good for you. You're doing a lot better than some of the chumps on this show.

Welcome back for another fanciful week of Walker-Geddon in the hills (plains) of Georgia, with the fine folk of The Walking Dead. Last week's episode "The Suicide King" offered up a lot of changes, and hopefully we'll see how these changes affect our characters in this week's episode, called "Home"

yeah, anytime i can put NIN in a post, i will. they have a song with the same name of an ep? boooooom

So, will the fine folks of Woodbury retaliate on Rick's Posse?
Will Ghost Lori be able to prevent Rick from killing teenage girls with machine guns? (man, he did that.)
How will the Whistlin' Dixons deal with brotherhood again so suddenly after all this time apart? And with their separate allegiances?

too much? not enough? let us know!

take off your shoes and coat and come on inside. we've got some drinks and snacks, and a whole bunch of walking dead ahead, so c'mon in.
